Founded in 1988, the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation is the largest surgical charity in the Philippines, performing over 3,000 free operations per year to correct medical conditions such as cataracts, crossed eyes, cleft lip and palette, burn contractions, post polio and club feet for the poor.

The word 'deseret' comes from the ancient word for honeybee and represents the philosophy of the foundation. In a beehive everyone contributes to make something sweet. At Mabuhay Deseret, Filipino doctors volunteer their time, local hospitals provide substantial discounts on the use of their facilities and patients and their family members contribute by cooking and cleaning during their stay in our hospice houses.

The mission of the Philippine Association of Interpreters for Deaf Empowerment (PAIDE) is to provide quality and accurate sign language interpretation in all transactions involving Deaf persons. We shall accomplish this Mission by means of training highly effective and capable sign language interpreters that would break the language barrier existing between the Hearing and the Deaf.


PAIDE adheres to the Philosophy of Total Communication (TC) whereby all forms and means of communication known to deaf persons are utilized, e.g., simultaneous speaking and signing, lip reading, cued speech, body language, facial expressions, gestures and the like to have meaningful sessions with the deaf people in the silent world.

As envisioned 30 years ago, The Optical Shop Incorporated, a definitive name in the eyewear and eye care industry, began its pioneering concept of a one-stop eyewear center in 1986 with eye care service sales and fashion center, all under one roof. 

First popularized in the US, the local prime movers behind this innovative endeavor are Dr. Gil E. The Philippine Heart Center is essentially a hospital for patients suffering from heart ailments. However, it is equipped to render the best possible care for most other illnesses. The Philippine Children’s Medical Center is one of the government-owned and controlled corporate National Centers for Specialized Health Care under the Department of Health. It is a 200-bed capacity tertiary hospital with a mandate to provide pediatric care, offer training programs for medical and allied health care providers, and be a center in clinical research.

It offers a wide array of general and subs-pecialty services in pediatrics, surgery and allied medicine. It has training programs (ambulatory medicine, hematology and oncology, infectious disease, nephrology, pulmonology, intensive care, neonatology, neurodevelopmental pediatrics, psychiatry, etc.) and it has produced researches relevant to the day-to-day care of the well and sick child.

National Children’s Hospital has continually grown, evolved and expanded with the changing times. The hospital has been the frontrunner in the care of pediatric patients, in different stages of life and different types of diseases.

Although almost 90% of patients are indigent, they have never been deprived of admission despite financial constraints. The delivery of services for indigent patients is done through innovation, sourcing out of funds and sponsorship, collaboration with government and non-government organizations and individuals. The new five-storey Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH) Medical Center is a 250-bed capacity tertiary-level hospital that provides the benefits of modern health care to the city's poor constituents. The hospital also boasts of a 64-slice CT scan, an acquisition which makes QCGH the first and only local government hospital to own this high-end diagnostic tool. was added to two existing ones.

As a tertiary-level hospital that provides training for tomorrow's doctors, QCGH also features an operating room suite with a view deck for use of residents and nurses under training. There will also be a spacious nurse station with extra rooms for the students.

The Lung Center of the Philippines was established through Presidential Decree No. 1823 on January 16, 1981 to provide the Filipino people state-of-the-art specialized care for lung and other chest diseases.

Presently the Center has a bed capacity of 210. It is in the process of acquiring state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The Center is determined to continue to carry on the legacy of commitment, excellence and top-quality, affordable medical care to thousands of Filipinos.
